Jesse James it’s a long story but their leader Magnus used sorcerery to try to warn the emperor of Hourus’s heresy and rebellion but inadvertently ruined the emperor’s Webway project (because the emperor never told anyone about it) allowing demonic invasion of the heart of the imperial palace on holy terra which is why the emperor was forced to stay on the Golden throne even before he was wounded, following this the emperor sent Russ and his wolves to punish Magnus and the Thousand sons for their violation of imperium law and generally fucking everything up on a galactic scale, I’ve read somewhere that he wanted them punish but the wolves decided to crank it to an 11 and started a battle to wipe out Magnus and the thousand sons and ultimately that’s what forced them to turn to chaos for salvation, Magnus had a single flaw which was his love and thirst of knowledge and even though he and his legion truly wished to help the emperor and mankind Magnus was driven from his father for foolishness which is why their story is a tragedy

I'll explain why they are tragic villains
Magnus is a Psyker the second best after me his legion had a fatal flaw they would turn into Chaos Spawns.
Magnus bargained with a demonic entity which he "defeated" and forced it to save his legion.
Anyway after battling with the Space Wolves and word Bearers showing both legion their power in psychic talents the Wolves were horrified and complained to the Emperor.
Mortarion and Russ both demanded that the Emperor punish Magnus.
The Emperor decided to outlaw any psychic abilities. Which was kind of like a slap in the face to Magnus but he accepted his decision. Now Horus had been corrupted and Magnus learned of this in the warp and tried to convince Horus to return back and failed he then tried to tell the Emperor but like you said he ruined the Webway project which was the reason the Emperor sent Russ he asked Russ to bring Magnus before him and explain his actions. But Horus seeing a chance to destroy two loyalist legions ordered Russ to attack Tzica and Prospero.
Magnus ordered his fleet to leave and pretty much made his planet defenseless up until the Wolves if Fenris who hate the Thousa d Sons started butchering the women and children in Tzica did Magnus finally come and fight with his legion. Russ fought his brother and killed him but before Magnus died he and his surviving soldiers fled to the world of Sorcerers in the immaterium.
Which is where Magnus learned that Tzeencth manipulated Magnus from the start. Pretending to lose yo him in a battle and "fixing" his legions genetic flaw. In reality he postponed it. There you have it thats why they are tragic villains
@@atsukunisumeragi1967 But they never arrived on Terra before their execution by the Space Wolves. Only Magnus came close through the webway and was shoo'd away immediately, they never learned of Horus's changing of the order so they believed it was in fact an order from the Emperor himself.

@Aaron B Not sure I'd put the space sharks in it with angels, drakes and wolves. They seem the only gang not caring about keeping their darker impulses in check.

Finally someone else has noticed that the three largest Tyrannid invasions were to Macragge, Baal and Terra! The only publicly known locations of Emperor and Primarch DNA.
I don't know how much use Emp's dna is, i think he was born in a normal body but spiritually he was more.

@@abelbabel8484 But the Emperor is so powerful because shamans all over the world committed suicide and their souls reincarnated in his body, that's not genetic, that's spiritual. And i think for the primarchs power he made a deal with the chaos gods also spiritual. On the other side Grey knights are said to have some extra Emp DNA to make them chaos corruption resistant psykers compared to normal space marines so maybe the lore is not that consistent in of itself..

The Blood Angels are a very tragic legion/chapter. Their Primarch Sanguinius is rightly considered to be the noblest and most beloved son of the emperor. Yet he was cruelly slain by Horus, sacrificing himself to make sure the Emperor would eventually win. His death also worsened the genetic flaws of the Blood Angels which drive them closer to madness whilst they still attempt to remain noble defenders of the imperium. Finally despite how highly venerated their Primarch is the Blood Angels are one of the most feared chapters in the Imperium.

Just imagine what the traitors were thinking when sieging the imperial palace when the Blood Angels Primarch died.
I think their flaw is something of a blessing. If ever a brother would lose enough self control to be susceptible to chaos he will surely fall to black rage first.

Despite the constant war within and without, despite the fall of many of my brothers to The Flaw, despite the temptation of great demon prince, despite the death of many of brothers, I love the red clad angels for they never give up. Even if they are a dying chapter, they do so with grace, honor, nobility and courage.
And that is why I love them to the point of tears of joy. Thank you Baldemort for your work of oraltal art and Emperor guide you.
Edit: The number 9 also represents the fruits of God's Holy Spirit, which are Faithfulness, Gentleness, Goodness, Joy, Kindness, Long suffering, Love, Peace and Self-control (Galatians 5:22 - 23).

A handful had the Red Thirst long before the heresy, interestingly.
The first outbreak of Black Rage happened before the Siege of Terra: on Signus against a daemon army. It occurs again at the exact moment Sanguinius dies. The entire legion on Terra gets it at once and charges at the enemy.
Which sounds like fill-your-pants time.
Signus Prime I believe, when Ka'banda struck 500 BA dead in one swipe. Sanguinius fell unconscious from the pain of losing so many in one fell swoop that the red thirst took hold of the vast majority of BA on the planet (Which I think at this point was the entire legion).
This was entirely too enjoyable. I'll never tire of Brother Baldermorts style of storytelling. Informative and riveting. Thank you always.

Baldermort's Guide to Warhammer the Black Death is the curse that afflicted the Blood Angels after the Angels death.
We would all be better for forgetting the signus prime book that tried to explain the psy whiplash inflicted by a bloodthirster exploiting the flaw. The 5th edition codex had the best writing... please do mephiston or dante when possible.

Correct me if I am wrong, but was not my Lord Sanguinius brutally strangled to death by Horus?
A traumatic event experience indeed; Underlined by the utter sadness staring up into the face of his assailant as it occurred. Despite that Sanguinius loved each of his brothers, Horus was the one he loved, respected, admired, and looked up to the most. Who he had held in esteem above all except perhaps the Emperor. For it was Horus who had first taken Sanguinius and my beloved legion under his tutelage when they had yet to earn honour and respect in the eyes of the rest of the Crusaders? The singular brother who at one time, without hesitation or doubt, held his hand out to his noble and misunderstood brothers in order to guide them towards eventually attaining the pinnacle of nobility. I can only imagine the soul crushing despair felt by Sanguinius in that moment. It is by conjecture that this immense sadness, born of love and tragedy, amplified by the severe traumatic asphyxiation and transmitted to his sons via his innate psychic abilities. To me the echo of that moment was so powerful it still echos in the minds and hearts of every Blood angel and successor even ten thousand years later.
This..... this is the cause of the black rage. How horrible it must be to fight the rage induced by this event perpetrated by the once beloved Horus. Each battle brother stuck between The dichotomy of the intense love and righteous anger felt by Sanguinius in his final, tragic moment.
@@EvilETV Hi I don't know if you're your wrong about him being being strangled but I was surprised to hear it. It's the 1st time I heard that detail. I've never played the games that give you a codex of details that you don't get in the Horus Heresy novels or in the Blood Angels novels before that, I have them all. I just knew of his increasingly vivid visions the closer he got to his greatest battle and ultimate death at the hands of the Warmaster. Lying dead, wings spread out under him broken along with his sword, also broken. May I ask where you get this information from? I watch other channels describing details like Guilliams resurreccion and his fight to Terra. Details I only get months later after reading the latest novel and most of that just rare glimpses. Thank you.
How different each chapter ascends to full Astartes. Some are kept fully awake no anesthesia as their new organs are put in their body the test is survival. Others like the Space Wolf's as the helix does it's work turning them into rabid animal's, the test controlling it and surviving. Then sleeping as new organs a gene seed transforms their bodies. It seems only the Blood Angels and Space Wolves take something extra, different besides the gene seed, organs and indoctrination to become astartes in their specific chapter.
The chaos deamons want the Blood Angels they haunt them.
You're easily one of the best lore channel I've ever come across Baldemort. The quality of the audio is sublime and I have no doubt whatsoever that this channel will grow to become one of the titans of lorehammer!
The black rage has been considered a weakness, yet the Blood Angels see it as a strength, something to be battled day by day. Brilliant stuff Baldermort - ~I look forward to more of these outstanding voxes. It's a cruel world.

Your emotions when you talk about Angels broke my heart. That is one thing that I love the most about this channel - how you are able to express different emotions depending on the situation and more importantly how your voice can invoke those same emotions in the listener. I have felt sadness and rage for the Angels, despise for Horus, pride and rage for Imperial Fists. Although none of those emotions were my own when I started to listen to those videos. You made them my own.
That is a sign of a true artist - an ability to make the audience feel something they don't usually do.

I have watched other channels about 40k lore and they are pretty good. However yours is by far the most exceptional to me. Even though you narrate and quote entries from the codexes, you develop stories of your own characters. The story of Captain Rubio...the music, the narration, your voice...it makes it so perfect.
This video that is about my favorite faction of 40k, you hsve made them justice. Captain Rubio symbolizes everything the Blood Angels are supposed to be...the story almost made tear up over how glorious it was.

You're not the only one. I have a masterfully painted figure of him on my shelf (not my doing, my sister and my brother-in-law are far better at painting than I am) for a reason. Though, I doubt Sanguinius could ever have survived his brother, not for lack of skill and ferocity, but because Horus was still his brother and he could never bring himself to slay him. And nothing short of Horus' death would have saved the Ninth.
I recently and finally read the 9th Horus Hersy Forge World Book (Malevolence) and I was taken aback to find out that the Blood Angel's were known to be blood drinking berserkers before Sanguinius.

The last two minutes of this was amazing. Literally had me in tears hearing the powerful reply from Captain Rubio to Kabanda.

The death of Sanguinious created the Black Rage. The Red Thirst existed while Sanguinious lived. During the Black Rage, Blood Angels relive Sanguinious's last days as if they are Sanguinious himself.
So am I right in saying that those who eventually succumb to the black rage on the battlefield might actually be fighting Horus on the Vengeful Spirit as Sanguinius whilst the reality is they're actually going insane as this plays out in their minds through trauma and such.
Is this correct?
@@xzzyyy4686 Sorry for taking so long to reply. Essentially yes. From what I understand. A space marine made from Sanguiniuses gene seed. Under the influence of the Black Rage. See's their existence as that of Sanguinius. During the Siege of the Imperial Palace, up to his last fight with Horus. I believe that the last fight with Horus is the most common but. Some of the brothers may see themselves as Sanguinious at any point threw out the Siege. Including the epic fight with blood thirster. I'm not positive about anything other then the last fight with Horus but I think that is correct. And yes. They are Ascending to Madness.

Between you and Wolf Lord Rho, I've gone from a love of the lore but little interest in playing the tabletop to laying out the budget to buy my own Blood Angels, learn the rules, and paint the minis. Hell, I'm considering buying posters. GW owes you two.
Wait, it thought Blood angels recieved the "gift" of Red thirst from Ka'Bandha during the horus heresy on Signus Prime, and that the back lash of Sanguinius' death was the reason why they have Black Rage.

To the Emperor, I imagine that Horus was his pride and Sanguinius, his joy. Which makes the Heresy all the more tragic.
The Captain's denial of temptation, the incredibly steadfast resolve in the face of Chaos is truly inspiring and the narration lends it perfect gravitas.

This was excellent. Only having started watching your videos,I find them most engaging. The story in the beginning,the depth of the lore. But most of all the voice and theatrics. WELL DONE SIR!!! WELL DONE.
There is only one criticism I can give this great piece of art, which is: The Blood Ravens aren’t a Blood Angels successor chapter, they’re a bunch of Space Magpies who are strongly rumoured to be gene sons of Magnus the Red that will steal anything shiny & try to pass it off as a relic or artefact of the chapter

One of the best "Why you suck speeches" that would have probably left Kabanda even momentarily reflective and probably for a split instant remorseful. Where and how on Earth does one get the capability of formulating such prose. I'd give an arm and a leg for that talent...

The Blood Angels have some great lore and your narration made me feel really immersed in the lore. Sanguinius is one of the best Primarch's too but he'll never top Rogal Dorn in my eyes.

The Blood Angels were the very first army I collected in 1998.. I've jumped from traction to faction for years and would be one of few that would absolutely (if written properly) love a 40k Sanguinius model and would happily pay $250 for him if he was ever made. I have a small army of Space Marines in bare plastic, I now believe I know what color they shall be. Thank you. Here's to a Primaris Dante in 2021.
